Hamilton, NJ — University Urology Associates of New Jersey (UUANJ) is proud to announce the introduction of Promaxo MRI-guided prostate biopsy technology, giving patients in Central New Jersey access to advanced prostate cancer diagnostic care close to home.
The Promaxo MRI System is specifically designed for use in an outpatient setting and allows urologists to use MRI guidance while performing a prostate biopsy. MRI imaging can help identify suspicious areas within the prostate so physicians can more accurately target tissue for testing.
“UUANJ has always focused on bringing advanced urologic care directly to the communities we serve,” said Mukaram Gazi, MD, FACS, Managing Partner of UUANJ. “Promaxo allows us to combine advanced imaging with the experience of our urologists in a convenient outpatient setting. This technology will allow us to target suspicious areas more reliably than traditional biopsies leading to earlier cancer detection.”
Unlike a traditional prostate biopsy that relies mainly on systematic sampling, Promaxo allows the physician to visualize and target areas of concern during the procedure. This added information can help physicians obtain the tissue needed to accurately diagnose or rule out prostate cancer.
“At UUANJ, we believe patients in New Jersey should have access to the same advanced technology available at leading medical centers,” said Samuel Qassab, MD, FACS, Board Certified Urologist at UUANJ. “Promaxo is another example of how we are investing in technology that can improve the way we evaluate and care for our patients.”
UUANJ provides comprehensive urologic care throughout New Jersey, including prostate cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, minimally invasive procedures, and advanced surgical care.
