University Urology Associates of New Jersey Announces First Medtronic Altaviva™ Procedure Completed in Ocean County

Dr. Mukaram Gazi brings an advanced treatment option for urge urinary incontinence to patients in Ocean County, New Jersey

Ocean County, NJ — University Urology Associates of New Jersey is proud to announce that Dr. Mukaram Gazi has completed the first Medtronic Altaviva™ procedure in Ocean County, New Jersey, marking an important milestone in expanding advanced urologic care for patients suffering from urge urinary incontinence. The groundbreaking surgical case was completed at Manchester Surgery Center, in Whiting, NJ.

The Altaviva™ system by Medtronic is an implantable tibial neuromodulation device approved for the treatment of urge urinary incontinence in patients who have not had success with, or could not tolerate, more conservative treatment options. The therapy works by delivering tibial neuromodulation, which helps regulate communication between the bladder and the nervous system.

Urge urinary incontinence can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life, often causing sudden urges to urinate, leakage, anxiety about leaving home, and interruption of daily activities. For patients who continue to struggle despite medications, lifestyle changes, or behavioral therapy, advanced options like Altaviva™ may offer a new path forward.

“This is an exciting advancement for our patients,” said Dr. Mukaram Gazi. “At University Urology Associates of New Jersey, we are committed to bringing innovative, effective treatment options to the communities we serve. Completing the first Altaviva™ procedure in Ocean County reflects our ongoing mission to provide state-of-the-art urologic care close to home.”

University Urology Associates of New Jersey offers comprehensive care for bladder control issues, overactive bladder, urge incontinence, and other urologic conditions. The addition of Altaviva™ further strengthens the practice’s ability to provide individualized treatment plans for patients whose symptoms have not improved with more conservative therapies.

“At UUANJ, our goal is always to improve quality of life,” said Dr. Gazi. “Bladder control problems can be frustrating and isolating, but patients should know they are not alone and that treatment options are available.”
